There’s something truly special about being asked to create a wedding cake. It’s more than just baking — it’s being trusted with a small but meaningful part of a couple’s big day. Recently, Debbie had the pleasure of designing and crafting a stunning two‑tier wedding cake that brought together elegance, flavour, and the couple’s chosen colour palette in the most charming way.
A Cake with Two Flavours to Love
The bottom tier was a classic favourite: vanilla sponge layered with silky vanilla buttercream and a generous spread of strawberry jam. Light, sweet, and timeless — the perfect choice for guests of all ages.
For the top tier, the couple chose something richer: a moist chocolate sponge paired with smooth chocolate buttercream. A delicious contrast that gave guests the best of both worlds.
Elegant Ivory with a Lilac Twist
Once the baking and filling were complete, Debbie covered the cake in a smooth layer of ivory icing, creating a soft, romantic base. To add texture and movement, she crafted thin lilac icing, gently “ripped” and placed around the tiers to form a delicate layered frill. This technique gave the cake a beautiful, fabric‑like effect — subtle, modern, and wonderfully eye‑catching.
Finishing Touches: Flowers to Match the Wedding Theme
To complete the design, Debbie added a selection of flowers chosen to perfectly match the wedding’s colour scheme. These floral details tied the whole look together, adding a fresh, natural elegance that made the cake feel right at home in the couple’s celebration.
