We were delighted to be asked to create a cake for a lady’s retirement party, organised by her work colleagues. They wanted a design that reflected her love of nature, with a theme centred around British garden flowers and native birds.

For the cake itself, we baked a delicious gluten-free vanilla sponge, filled with layers of smooth vanilla buttercream and sweet strawberry jam. Ensuring the cake was both beautiful and enjoyable for guests with dietary requirements was an important part of the brief, and we’re pleased to say it looked and tasted fantastic.

The decoration work was where this cake really came to life. The elegant garden-inspired design featured a variety of handmade edible flowers, carefully crafted by Debbie to create a colourful and natural display around the cake. Each flower was individually made and arranged to give the appearance of a flourishing British garden in full bloom.

To complement the floral theme, several British garden birds were incorporated into the design. These charming birds were created using our edible printing technology, allowing us to include detailed and recognisable wildlife elements that added a unique and personal touch to the finished cake.

The combination of delicate flowers, vibrant bird illustrations, and classic flavours made for a memorable centrepiece that perfectly captured the occasion. It was a lovely way for colleagues to celebrate a valued team member as she embarked on her retirement journey.
